Fun and challenging

Best strategy game on iPad. Just finished the campaign.

Good Fun, Too Short

Wish it was longer. Also wish spell stats were true . . .

Awesome game!

Really Captures the Lovecraft feel!

Good squad based tactical game

Im a big fan of squad AP based tactics game, like Jagged Alliance or XCOM. Cthulu Wasted Lands is a good entry in this catalog, definitely worth $5. Its quite challenging and will punish you for your mistakes. I would give this 5 stars except for a few flaws that really drag down gameplay. First, in a game that is this precise not having an "undo" button is a big problem. Especially considering how easy it is to have a character mistakenly walk a space when you dont intend it. Firing and special abilities are fine as they require pushing a conformation button, but walking when un intended is a killer. Second, there should be a save function mid-level. Levels are too long and difficult, plus the designers love of late mission "surprises" not to at least let you go back a few turns instead of completely restarting. Other than that though, awesome game. Havent played the expansion missions, but I likely will someday. battling the forces of the unnameable one has never been such a blast. Great game!

Not worth the effort

Fights are long and tedious against dumb dumb dumb ai. I sold off my machine gun because the animation of shooting it made the game drag out longer. Paths and buttons are goofy, targeting a bore. Audio glitches are not infrequent.

Great game but wont full screen on iPad mini

When I first played the lite version I knew I wanted this game, after some time I decided to buy it. Only problem was after I got to chapter 6 the game lost about an inch at the top of the screen to a black banner. I contacted the developers and they told me they would fix it.... That was 1.5 months ago and still nothing please fix this issue. Or am I the only one?

FIX THE ICON!

The broken icon is driving me nuts! How hard would it be to fix it?

HP Lovecrafts cosmic horror on iOS

Great little turn based tactical squad game. If you enjoy the x-com series youll enjoy this. Not as deep nor as long which is to be expected from an iOS app and the graphics are a bit dated. If youre a big fan of HPL it is a must have. Dark young and walking dead abound!

Great as long as you dont buy extra missions

I loved the game until today, when I went in after purchasing the add on mission. I played it for several hours yesterday. However, today, when I went back in to resume my game, it has "forgotten" that I purchased the add on and I have lost my money on that. So, dont expect to buy the add on and keep it. Otherwise, would have been 5 stars.

Frustratingly difficult

Reminded me (in a bad way) of Fallout: Tactics. Your team is too fragile. You might like this game if you like games where you have to play a level over and over to figure out the exact puzzle sequence of moves necessary to beat it, like memorizing Pac-Man levels. For anyone who likes natural intuitive tactical gameplay, this game is a big disappointment. Some cool elements, but in the end, not worth the effort of trying to finish it. The actual tactical decisions are simple, it is not a deep game at all. The problem comes from the "lose a single team member, have to start the mission all over" nature of gameplay. You can wipe a screen clear of enemies, advance a little, and suddenly trigger the next wave of bad guys to appear (from all sides!) at which point you are very likely to lose a team member and have to start the entire scenario over again. Tedious and frustrating, especially on a phone. The game apparently has Cthulhoid monsters at some point, but I never could get past the endless waves of boring soldiers, cultists and zombies and so never got to see the cool stuff that was the only reason I bought the game to begin with. Replaying the same boring fight over and over and over to try to figure out the exact pattern required to finish it is not my idea of good tactics. A real shame because the setting was a great concept.
